Communication
It's important for an event to have its own chat channel when needed. Here is a little something I found from the SWG website:
Communication - For all events we highly recommend using the global chat channels to keep everyone informed. Not everyone is used to using these, but they can be a HUGE help. For a list of chatroom commands type "/help chatroom". All commands listed begin with /chatroom.
At the very least, event organizers should be on a shared chatroom, and possibly have a moderated chatroom for announcements to all the players. This will help you get information across when things get furious.
To create a chat channel:
- Right-click on one of your chat tabs (we recommend creating a new blank tab) and choose "Join Chat Channel."
- Double click on your galaxy.
- Double click "Chat."
- Select "Create Channel."
- Input a chatroom name and title. The name should be short as you will use / to type into the chatroom. The title is a longer description of the room's purpose.
- Select "Moderated" if you want to use the room only for announcements. This will allow only moderators to speak.
- If you select "Private," only those you invite (/chatroom invite will be able to access the room.
- Click "Done".
Setting Up Your Event
Take a look at the peaceful player city of Babylon. Its location makes it a nice place to hold a PvP event.
Step 1: Place your props.
Step 2: Gather your group.
Step 3: Set up troops.
Step 4: Fight!
After Your Event
You should do something after your event to make people want to come back. Like with my event, I usually host a Dark Jedi bash with Pex's event support.
After your event, post about it on the forums. Include screenshots and videos if you can in your post. I usually make Youtube videos for my event.
